This is the only way to get from one part of town to another on foot or bicycle, and it was blocked by a utility truck. The guy on the ground did try to help, but it was still a terrifying and completely unnecessary situation.

We spent a day in Changi and Pulau Ubin. It's been many years since stepping foot on Ubin. Things have changed way too much - especially Chek Jawa; maybe more accessible to the general public & tourists. Cycling around Ubin is the way to go as more of the island can be covered as opposed to walking/hiking. There are also "taxis" (as the locals call it) - they are actually mini vans that will ferry you wherever you want to go on the island, for a fee.
There are many shops near the jetty - you won't be hungry nor thirsty. And shops renting out bicycles of various states of repair. "New" ones are rented out at S$15 for virtually the whole day, $10 gets you a serviceable one and for $5 you get a single speed bike (for those with strong legs).
