The Western is a genre of fiction typically set in the American frontier (commonly referred to as the “Old West” or the “Wild West”) between the California Gold Rush of 1849 and the closing of the frontier in 1890. It is commonly associated with folk tales of the Western United States, particularly the Southwestern United States, as well as Northern Mexico and Western Canada.

Characteristics

• Depicts the American frontier as a sparsely populated, hostile region patrolled by cowboys, outlaws, sheriffs, and other stock characters.
• Often concerns the gradual attempts to tame the crime-ridden American West using themes of justice, freedom, rugged individualism, manifest destiny, and national history and identity.
• Classic Westerns are morality dramas, presenting the conflict between wilderness and civilization.
• Stories often center on the life of a male drifter, cowboy, or gunslinger who rides a horse and is armed with a revolver or rifle.

In Paris verleiht Baron Haussmann der Stadt ein neues Gesicht: Paris wird zur modernen Hauptstadt des 19. Jahrhunderts.

Des acteurs locaux pour un projet international
 
C’est un projet scolaire interdisciplinaire visant à comprendre les évènements qui ont conduit à l’édification du monument dit du « Tata sénégalais » érigé à Chasselay à la suite du massacre de tirailleurs sénégalais par l’armée allemande en juin 1940.

Ce projet entre dans le thème « Parcours de mémoire / Devoir de mémoire », mené depuis nombreuses années auprès des classes de Troisième au collège Alexis Kandelaft, associant partenaires culturels, institutionnels et locaux.

Dierendag (ook: Werelddierendag) is een dag die wereldwijd op de agenda staat als een moment waarop extra aandacht wordt besteed aan de dieren. Dierendag valt jaarlijks op 4 oktober.

De datum van dierendag gaat terug naar de feestdag van Sint Franciscus van Assisi (4 oktober). Hij bekommerde zich om het lot van melaatsen, zwervers en andere armen, maar ook van planten en dieren. Volgens de overlevering hield hij ooit een preek voor de dieren.
