Speculative Values

"Co-organized by Rhizome and interdisciplinary contemporary arts organization Kadist, Speculative Values asks to what extent the work of arts institutions might be propelled forward using blockchain-based digital cooperatives known as DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations).

Gathering artists, developers, and thinkers for a series of conversations and presentations, Speculative Values considers the apparent contradictions inherent in these forms, which are both financialized and cooperative; how these relate to the contradictions involved in traditional institutional models; and how these contradictions might play out in the future. Open Score: The State of Art & Technology

Open Score was an annual symposium that explored the state of art and technology. Convening luminary artists, curators, researchers, and writers to discuss how technology is transforming culture, the first edition of Open Score considered how artists responded to new conditions of surveillance and hypervisibility; how social media’s mass creativity interfaced with branding and identity for individual artists; how the quality and texture of art criticism evolved in a digital age; and what the future of internet art might be in light of a broader assimilation of digital technologies.

Supported by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Open Score: Art and Technology 2016 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the groundbreaking initiative Experiments in Art and Technology. The conference’s title was taken from Rauschenberg’s live performance Open Score during one of E.A.T.’s most iconic events, "9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering."

Lunatics Project: Timelapse Screencasts

These are timelapse (usually 60X -- 1 sec = 1 min, 1 min = 1 hour) screencasts of (mostly) production and development work set to music from our CC By-SA, CC-By, CC-0/PD music soundtrack library.

I mainly make these videos for self-management reasons. It's a very easy way to tally how much time I spend on different sorts of tasks each month, using the Kdenlive timeline of my "worklog" screencasts (I use FFMPEG to capture my screen once a second while working).

The video itself is not technically necessary, but it's kind of chill, the music is nice, and I find it good for my morale to have a record of the work I put in.

So far, anyway, these are all Terry Hancock's worklogs.
